The National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program is open to students pursuing eligible primary care health professions training. Recipients of this award will commit to providing primary care health services in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs). Recipients must commit a minimum of two years of full-time service. Students will also receive monthly stipends to assist with living expenses while pursuing a health professions degree educational training program. Once the recipients are complete with their NHSC SP service commitment, they may be eligible to apply to the NHSC Loan Repayment Program (NHSC LRP). Students must be enrolled in the following: 1. School of allopathic or osteopathic medicine, pursuing a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree 2. School of dentistry, pursuing a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (D.M.D.) degree. 3. School or program of nurse practitioner education, pursuing a postgraduate degree or postgraduate certificate. 4. School of program of nurse-midwifery education, pursuing a postgraduate degree or postgraduate certificate. 5. School or program of primary care physician assistant education, pursuing a postgraduate degree or postgraduate certificate. Military reservists are also eligible to apply.
