Newman Civic Fellowship

Description

The Newman Civic Fellowship is intended to honor the legacy of Campus Compact Founder Frank Newman by recognizing community-committed students who: engage in collaborative action with others from campus or from surrounding communities in order to create long-term social change; take action in addressing issues of inequality and political polarization; and demonstrate the motivation and potential for effective long-term civic engagement. The president or chancellor at each Campus Compact member may nominate one student per year to the Newman Civic Fellowship. Student nominees must be currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program, with preference for undergraduate students. They must have at least one year of their education remaining (either at their current institution or at a different one) at the date of nomination so that they are enrolled as a student for the full duration of their fellowship. Nominating institutions must commit to helping the nominee identify a local mentor; and submit nomination materials on behalf of the president or chancellor. Please visit the fellowship's website for more information.
