NPA Foundation Collegiate Journalism Scholarship

Description

The NPA Foundation Collegiate Journalism Scholarship is for Journalism or Ag Communications students. Those eligible to apply are 2025 college or university students who graduated from a (Nebraska) high school in prior years and are now enrolled at a college or university. The recipient must use and enroll no later than the start of the third semester after the awarding of the scholarship. The educational institution involved must offer a curriculum which provides the necessary education so a student graduating from the program is qualified for at least an entry level position in either community-based print journalism or agricultural communications. Scholarships will be given to students with a specific interest in community-based print journalism: news, editorial, sports, photography, circulation, production/design, or marketing/advertising careers - at a weekly, semi-weekly, or daily newspaper; or students with a specific interest in agricultural communications. Selection of the recipients will be based on scholastic ability, essay question response, and student's involvement in their local community newspaper, or college student newspaper. A statement from a college professor is required . A letter of reference from the applicant's community newspaper (publisher or editor) or college student newspaper adviser may accompany the application, but is not required. If available, students may submit no more than three samples of Community Print Journalism or Ag Communications product, work or writing. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Nebraska Press Association for more information.
