OAH Award for Contributions to Public Policy

Description

The Award for Contributions to Public Policy recognizes a scholar of any discipline who has made a significant contribution to U.S. public policy through historical research, of any length, published or unpublished. The award will recognize the historical profession's contributions to and ongoing obligations in helping to create public policy that is more firmly grounded in sound history. Eligible public policy contributions must have been undertaken or published during the period January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024. Examples of public policy contributions that will be considered include reports or briefs to government agencies, courts or public educational institutions, public testimony on major issues, and influential blogs and podcasts. While collections of previously unpublished documents that illuminate a pressing public policy issue may be considered, books generally speaking are not eligible for consideration. Early career scholars are encouraged to apply. Recipients will be selected by the OAH Executive Committee from nominations consisting of a statement of nomination and copies of or links to relevant supporting materials. Self-nominations will be considered. Please visit the award's website or contact the Organization of American Historians.
