The Oncology Nursing Society Emerging Leader Award aims to recognize an emerging oncology nurse leader who has made a difference in the oncology nursing profession at the local or regional level. This award is eligible for self-nominations. The candidate should be a registered professional nurse; have a minimum of one year of oncology leadership experience and not more than 5 years of experience; and not have previously received the Emerging Leader Award. When these criteria are met, primary consideration will be on how the nominee advances the oncology nursing profession and quality cancer care at the local/regional level; mentors, precepts, orients, coaches, or teaches nurses in the practice of oncology nursing; and demonstrates leadership at the local or regional level, which may include oncology-related leadership in the areas of community and public service, advocacy, health literacy, supportive services, and/or academic activities.
