The Oregon Albacore Commission Scholarship will be awarded to Oregon commercially licensed albacore tuna landing permit holders, their captains, and their children and dependents who have paid assessments to the Oregon Albacore Commission within the past year; and processors, employees and their children and dependents where the business has purchased Oregon albacore tuna and paid assessments to the Oregon Albacore Commission within the past year. Financial need may or may not be considered but filing of FAFSA is still required. Students may apply-compete for one additional year. One scholarship recipient will be selected to receive the Jon Gonzalez Memorial Scholarship. Jon Gonzalez was a passionate advocate for fishermen and the commercial fishing industry, leaving a legendary legacy on the West Coast seafood sector. This scholarship honors his dedication to supporting fishermen and a thriving U.S. seafood economy. February 15 is the Early Bird deadline and March 1 is the final deadline for all materials to be submitted to OSAC.
