R&E Foundation Resident/Fellow Research Grant

Description

The R&E Foundation Resident/Fellow Research Grant gives young radiologists the chance to gain insight and experience in scientific investigation while they're still in training. Any area of research in the radiologic sciences is eligible for funding. Applications should describe the unique nature of the research effort independent of existing research efforts and should have well-defined goals for the funding period of the grant. Participation of the recipient in established funded research is encouraged, but the responsibility and project of the recipient should be clearly described in the application. Projects focused on advancing imaging science, developing or evaluating medical imaging technology, or making innovative use of imaging science to answer important biologic or clinical questions are encouraged. However, this grant is not intended to support those who are simply trying to gain practical experience in clinical radiology or fund PhD post-doc projects. Any resident or fellow may apply for this grant, as long as they are an RSNA member. North American applicants must be a resident or fellow in a department of radiology, radiation oncology, nuclear medicine or medical physics. For a radiology, radiation oncology or nuclear medicine resident to receive the Resident Grant, they must complete their internship year and at least six months of specialty training in radiologic sciences. For a medical physics resident to receive the Resident Grant, they must have completed at least six months of residency training. For a fellow to receive the Fellow Grant, applicants must be in the last year of, or have completed, residency training and they must be in a fellowship position while they're being funded. North American applicants must be certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or on track for certification. International applicants must already be accepted into a one or two year fellowship position at a North American education institution at the time of application. They must be in the last year of, or have completed, residency training. They must be certified by the radiology board in their home country, or on track for certification. Their research project must be completed while they're at a North American institution. Please visit the award's website for more information about the grant and the materials that are required to be submitted.
