Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute Engineering/Geology Scholarship

Description

Given to students at a four-year school entering their junior or senior year. Students must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of one of the eight RMCMI member states and looking for a career in the mining industry. The scholarships are $2,750 per year and may be given for up to two years. The selected students are also offered an all-expense paid trip to the RMCMI Annual Meeting and Conference in late June, where they have the opportunity to meet industry leaders and attend all of the technical sessions. A full-time COLLEGE SOPHOMORE or JUNIOR in good standing at the time of selection; Both a U.S. citizen and a legal resident of one of the Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute member states ÔÇô Arizona, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, Utah, or Wyoming; Pursuing a degree in a mining-related field or in the engineering disciplines such as mining, geology, mineral processing, metallurgy, electrical, mechanical and environmental. The Rocky Mountain Scholarship Chairman will distribute scholarship applications to interested academic institutions. Among these are the University of Arizona, Colorado School of Mines, University of Missouri at Rolla, Montana Tech, New Mexico Tech, University of North Dakota, South Dakota School of Mines, Texas A&M University, University of Utah and others. Nominations will be accepted only from students meeting the scholarship criteria. On a separate sheet of paper, write an autobiography (150 words or less). Include any academic and athletic honors, extra-curricular activities, and why you feel you deserve this scholarship. Three references. Include name, address, business and home phone number, company or business name, and years acquainted. Attach letters of reference or recommendation. Applications will not be considered without these reference/recommendation letters. Work experience. List your work experience. For all past employment, include employerÔÇÖs name, address, phone number, the name of your supervisor, work performed, length of service, and the reason for leaving.
