Description

The Russ Cotney and Lauren Cotney Professional Airline Pilot Career Scholarship was established in honor of Maj. Gen. (ret.) William Russell Cotney in recognition of his 40 years of meritorious service to his country in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard and in honor of his daughter Lauren Cotney, who, following in her father's footsteps, is distinguishing herself as a pilot for Delta Air Lines and in her service to her country as a member of the Air National Guard. Successful applicants must be pursuing a professional airline pilot career, enrolled in an accredited college or university aviation, engineering, or aeronautical science program. Preference will be given to veterans, current service members, or daughters of veterans or current service members. All applicants must be current WAI members with an expiration date of March 30, 2026 or later. Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from faculty members, flight instructors, or pilots who have flown with them.
