The Ruth R. & Alyson R. Miller Fellowships will be awarded to encourage research in women's history. Most grants will provide a stipend for four weeks of research at the Society sometime between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027. Short-term awards are open to independent scholars, advanced graduate students, and holders of the PhD or the equivalent. Applicants must submit a cover letter. They must briefly introduce themselves, their project, and why they are applying for the fellowship. Applicants must also submit a project proposal that should include a description of the project; a statement explaining the historiographical significance of the project; and an indication of the specific MHS collections the applicant wishes to consult. A short project description must also be submitted. Applicants who do not hold a PhD must submit one letter of recommendation from a faculty member familiar with their work and with the project being proposed.
