They must be an honorably discharged veteran, no longer drilling or serving by July 2026. Applicants must provide one of the following documents before award disbursement: Certificate or Letter of Eligibility from the Department of Veteran Affairs; or DD214 or other document proving honorable service. They may be pursuing a degree or state-approved certificate in education or school-based counseling, school-based social worker, or school psychology, with the intent to work in the K-12 school system. Applicants may be a high school or GED graduate, current post-secondary undergraduate, or graduate-level student. Doctoral programs are not eligible. A state-approved alternative pathway to certification is also eligible. A $1,000 award will be given if the student is pursuing certification through a state-approved alternative pathway. A $5,000 award will be given if the student is pursuing a degree at a vocational-technical or two-year institution or if attending a four-year institution on a part-time basis.
