The American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (ASECS) Fellowship is a short-term fellowship supporting scholars who wish to study the period between 1660 and 1815 and demonstrate a specific need for the Newberry's collection. Applicants must be members of the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies at the time of the application and through the period of the fellowship. A project abstract describing the significance of the project and a project description elaborating on the abstract and referencing specific published scholarship that the project will engage with are required. The description should also explain the relevance of certain Newberry collection materials to the project and include a plan of work. Letters of Recommendation, in English, that speak to the scholarly contribution of the proposed project, the value of a Newberry residency to the applicant, and the qualifications of the applicant.
