The Charles J. Tanenbaum Fellowship in Cartographical Bibliography supports projects dealing with all aspects of the history, presentation, printing, design, distribution, and reception of cartographical documents from Renaissance times to the present. Eligibility is limited to US citizens and residents; and citizens of other nations without US residency who wish to conduct research outside of the United States only. Applicants must submit the following: project title; curriculum vitae; project proposal that should include a statement of the project's broader significance, a description of the specific research they plan to undertake with the support of a BSA fellowship, a description of the materials they hope to consult, and a brief budget and timeline for the proposed project; and one letter of recommendation. Applicants do not need to be members of the Society to apply for a fellowship. However, successful recipients must join the BSA in order to accept a fellowship award.
