The Donald L. Blount Memorial Graduate Scholarship

Description

The Donald L. Blount Memorial Scholarship is part of the SNAME Graduate Scholarships Program, and open to applicants worldwide, who are members, in good standing, of SNAME. Applicants need to be SNAME members for at least four months before the application deadline, looking to pursue studies focusing on high-speed craft hydrodynamics and culminating in a graduate degree. If applicants already have a Master of Engineering degree and would like to continue studies focusing on high-speed craft hydrodynamics, they will remain eligible for consideration for postgraduate (PhD) study. Three letters of reference must be submitted. One letter must be from a Faculty Member of the applicant's university, who has had the applicant as a student in their course. Also, that letter or one of the other two letters of recommendation must be from a current SNAME member. Although applicants are not required to provide GRE scores, they will be at a disadvantage if they do not do so, regardless of graduate school admission requirements. GRE scores count as much as 15 percent of the application ranking for award consideration. Applications must be received prior to February 1 with all supporting documentation by February 15. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers for more information.
