Description

The Droste awards are made possible by a bequest from the estate of the late Howard and Yoneko Droste, longtime faculty members who taught a combined total of 45 years at UH Hilo in the English and Art departments. The awards for excellence in writing are competitive. Students must submit papers to specific awards categories. The papers are anonymized and undergo double-blind review by English faculty. The writing awards are presented at the annual Spring College of Arts & Sciences Student Awards Convocation. English faculty members nominate students for the bookstore vouchers by using ballots.
