The Trudell Medical Excellence Scholarship is awarded to a fourth-year medical student within the top 10 percent of their medical school class with intentions to practice in one of the following specialties: Cardiac Surgery, Otolaryngology Surgery or Pediatric Oncology. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited medical school within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. They must be a bona-fide Pennsylvania resident at least 12 months prior to registering as a medical student. If selected, the applicant must obtain an active student membership with the Pennsylvania Medical Society. Applicants must submit two letters from medical school professors indicating the applicant's seriousness of purpose/innate talent within medicine/unique drive that sets this applicant apart from the remaining fourth-year medical students. One letter must reference the specialty for which the applicant intends to pursue.
