The Walter J. Halen Scholarship for String Students is awarded to students who play the violin, viola, cello, or string bass in the UCM orchestra. This scholarship is made possible by way of a gift from Mrs. Thalia R. Halen, 69, of Houston, Texas, in memory of her husband, Dr. Walter J. Halen.
