The Ward D. Harder Award will be given to the most deserving student who is aspiring to become a CPA and is from eligible counties in Tennessee. Students can attend a school outside of the eligible counties. This student will be identified using all criteria evaluated by the selection committee. Scholarships are available to TSCPA student members who have completed introductory accounting courses and are planning to sit for the CPA Exam. Both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply if they meet the eligibility requirements. Students transitioning from a two-year community college to a four-year university are also encouraged to apply. Applicants may either be residents of Tennessee or attending a Tennessee college or university. They must have completed at least three semester hours (or equivalent) in accounting by the end of spring 2026. Applicants must be majoring in accounting, finance or a related field and planning to obtain their CPA designation. They must be attending college during the 2026-2027 school year. Applicants must submit two completed letters of recommendation, one of which must be from an accounting, economics or finance professor from the university the applicant is attending.
