Wings for Val Foundation Lieutenant Valerie Cappelaere Delaney Memorial Scholarship

Description

The Wings for Val Foundation honors the life and legacy of Navy Lieutenant Valerie "Val" Delaney, a Navy pilot whose courage, character, and passion for flight continue to inspire those who follow in her path. This scholarship exists to carry that spirit forward--by investing in women who are not only pursuing aviation, but who are driven to make a meaningful impact through it. This is an opportunity to recognize a woman who is ready to rise, who understands that aviation is not only about reaching new heights, but about the responsibility to lead, to serve, and to open doors for others. This award is intended for an individual who reflects Val's determination, resilience, and commitment to something greater than herself. The recipient will represent a legacy of leadership, service, and courage within the aviation community. Applicants must be pursuing private fixed wing pilot certificates or advanced fixed wing ratings. They must submit a copy of their current medical: FAA Class 1-3 Medical preferred, BasicMed considered. Applicants must be a current WAI member with an expiration date no later than March 30, 2027, or join as a new member by August 30, 2026. International members may apply. Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation. Letters cannot be from family members. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Women in Aviation International for more information.
