The Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library Maker-Creator Fellowship is a two to six-week research fellowship designed for artistic and creative professionals to examine, study, and immerse themselves in Winterthur's vast collections to inspire the production of new work. Past fellows have utilized the museum's landscape, gardens, museum collections, and library for inspiration, precedent, instruction, and material for their creations. Applicants must provide a two-page bibliography of primary sources they plan to use or consult at Winterthur. Applicants must also request two recent letters of reference addressing their scholarly record, their current project, and their ability to work with a collegial group. Maker-Creator Fellowship applicants must also provide the following digital work samples: (A) Portfolio of 5-10 high-res images or videos of their work (JPG, JPEG, or PDF for visual files; MP3 or MP4 for video files; YouTube or Vimeo for hosted video - please include timestamps where review should occur); (B) For writers, a writing sample of current or previous work, not to exceed 10 pages in length (PDF only). Applicants are strongly encouraged to include any relevant reviews of their work by professional critics and web addresses for samples that can be viewed online.
