Visual Arts is one of 10 artistic disciplines in YoungArts' national competition. This discipline encompasses a broad range of fine art including multi-media and performance art. If your work includes fashion, product, graphic design, or architecture please see the Design discipline. Applicants must be in grades 10-12 or 15-18 years of age on December 1 of the year they are applying. The strongest portfolios convey the artist's ability to develop and materialize ideas while demonstrating a distinct vision. The portfolio must include a total of 10 images that represent 8 to 10 of the applicant's best works from the last two years. The majority of the portfolio should explore a cohesive idea, technique, or theme. If submitting 8 works, the two additional images can be detailed shots of a section of a work that is difficult to view in an image in its entirety. Optional: For those submitting video stills/documentation of performance piece: A 30-60-second video with audio may be uploaded. Please visit the award's website for more information.
