Diverse Graduate Business Programs at a Private New York College

St. Joseph's College has been educating students in the liberal arts tradition for almost a century. The school's mission is to prepare graduate and undergraduate students with a broad knowledge of useful world practices that students can apply to future careers. For 13 consecutive years, St. Joseph's College has been recognized in the America's Best College's issue of "U.S. News and World Report", and named to the "Forbes" America's Top College list for seven straight years.

Currently, the graduate management studies program offers several Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) and Master of Science (M.S.) degrees for business graduate students. Students can choose from an Executive M.B.A., M.B.A. in Accounting, M.B.A. in Health Care Management including a concentration in Health Information Technology, as well as an M.S. in Management that offers concentrations in Health Care Management, Human Resources Management and Organizational Management.

Real World Learning in the Executive M.B.A. Program

Students with full-time careers and extensive work experience are able to participate in the Executive M.B.A. (E.M.B.A.) program. This 36-credit program is available both on campus and online. Real-world situations that stress the perfection of management skills--including people management abilities and analytic reasoning abilities--are integral to course work and academic case studies. The E.M.B.A. is designed specifically to train students for executive level and upper-management positions.

A Comprehensive M.B.A. in Accounting Program

Faculty in the M.B.A. in Accounting program at SJC Brooklyn are certified public accountants who understand the connection between accounting as a discipline and managerial effectiveness in the accounting world. Students take courses designed to prepare them for all types of accounting, including private, public, institutional, and governmental accounting practices.

Coursework includes 8 graduate management courses and four graduate accounting courses. Students who graduate from this program are eligible to obtain New York State C.P.A. licensure.

Specialized Degree in Management

At St. Joseph's College, the Master of Science in Management is a two-year program that meets every other week to allow working professionals the time necessary to balance careers and academic study. Within the program, it is possible to pursue concentrations in organizational management, health care management, and human resources management.

For individuals interested in true leadership positions in human services, the Master of Science in Human Services Leadership emphasizes skills in the particular fields of child and family welfare, mental health, and substance abuse as opposed to the broader field of general management. The program addresses the complexities of current human services issues and provides comprehensive education in workplace diversity and ethical responsibility.

Opportunities for Advanced Certificates in Management

There are two different avenues to gain advanced certificates in management at SJC Brooklyn. Each program consists of 15 required credits. The Advanced Certificate in Human Resources Management allows professionals in the human resources field to further their knowledge of structure within organizations and learn how this relates to current trends and practices in the industry.

It is also possible to obtain an Advanced Certificate in Health Care Management. This certificate program enables students to evaluate how health care is managed at present, identify current trends, and learn how to move constructively into the future of health care management.

A Commitment to Financial Assistance

More than 84 percent of SJC Brooklyn students receive financial aid. One of the most affordable private institutions in New York, SJC Brooklyn offers financial aid from a variety of sources, including special grants and awards. Certain graduate student awards apply to undergraduate alumni and others are granted based on merit.
