Broward College Online Awards Two- and Four-Year Degrees, Technical Certificates, Industry Certifications

Broward College (BC) is a four-year state college with four campuses and 15 satellite locations located in and around Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Broward College offers associate degrees, baccalaureate degrees, technical certificates, industry certifications, non-degree and workplace programs, plus continuing education. Broward College is among the top public colleges in the nation with the lowest tuition and fees in South Florida. Our programs provide career pathways to many of today’s high wage and in demand professions.

Broward College Online (BC Online), offers degrees and certificates completely online for students interested in fully online programs, or those who prefer a combination of on-campus and online study. Many courses and some degree programs have no additional textbook costs, making BC Online an even more affordable option for a high quality education from a recognized and accredited institution. BC Online also provides these same programs to students around the United States and globally.

Broward College Online Overview

Nationally recognized as the one of the most affordable and convenient options for a quality education for full-time professionals and stay-at-home parents, BC Online offers students access to their virtual classrooms 24/7 from anywhere. Advising is available online and many courses (and some degree programs) have no textbook costs.

BC Online courses are web-based and require no special software to access. Courses begin and end on the same dates as traditional on-campus courses and, while most are not self-paced, BC Online also offers accelerated options for completion. There are multiple sessions in each term, ranging from six, 8, 12 and 16 weeks, and our competency-based program allows students with prior experience to challenge coursework and accelerate their time to completion. 

Bachelor of Applied Science Degree Programs 

BC Online offers three Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree programs.

The BAS in Information Technology is designed prepares graduates for IT positions in a variety of environments, including corporations, healthcare, education, non-profit, and a broad range of other environments where IT drives processes and practices.

The BAS in Technology Management curriculum prepares graduates who are equipped to develop technology management solutions and use technology to solve problems, better optimize business performance, and improve processes in a wide variety of environments.

The BAS in Supervision and Management curriculum ensures that graduates emerge with the analytical and diplomatic skills to become highly effective managers and supervisors at streamlining processes in companies and organizations. 

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree Program

The Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN) program offered by BC Online was created specifically for professional nurses who want to take their career to the next level, assume leadership responsibilities in patient advocacy, and take part in health promotion strategies and decision-making in the community.

The curriculum was developed for licensed registered nurses, current Broward College students, interested transfer students from other colleges and universities, and individuals seeking career advancement. Program requirements comprise a clear RN license in the State of Florida and a minimum of 2.5 cumulative GPA and 2.5 nursing GPA.

The program is accredited by the Commission for Education in Nursing (CNE) and regionally accredited to award bachelor's degrees by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC). 

Associate in Arts Degree Programs

The associate degree programs prepare students with the foundational coursework to continue on to a baccalaureate degree at Broward College or to transfer to another state college or state university. Students in the Broward College Associate in Arts (AA) degree program complete 36 credits in general education coursework and fulfill an additional 24 credits with electives in their transfer major, for a total of not less than 60 credits.

BC Online offers Associate in Arts (AA) degree programs in the following areas: Business; Education; Public Safety; Arts, Humanities, Communication, and Design (AHCD); Health Sciences; Industry, Management, Construction, and Transportation (IMCT); Social, Behavioral, and Human Services; and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Education.

Associate in Science Degree Programs 

For AS degree students, BC Online requires 18 credits of general education coursework, 36 elective credits in their major area, and additional credits depending on the requirements of their particular areas of focus, for a total of not less than 60 credits.

BC Online currently offers AS degree programs in the following areas: Accounting Technology; Business Administration; Computer Specialist; Computer and Network Security; Criminal Justice; Technology Project Management; Office Administration, Medical Office; and Office Administration, Office Software. 

Accelerated Online Programs and Competency Based Education

BC Online offers three accelerated degree programs that may be completed in 15 months or less. They are AA degree with a business focus, AS in Business Administration, and AS in Computer Systems Specialist.

The accelerated AS in Computer Systems Specialist degree is a competency-based education (CBE) program jointly launched by Broward College and the U.S. Department of Labor. The program comprises independent study for self-directed learners. 

Technical Certificates

Technical certificate programs provide students with opportunities to develop the technical competencies necessary to seek immediate employment in a particular occupational field.

Broward College Online offers technical certificate programs in a variety of career tracks. Among them are Accounting Technology; Airport Management; Business; Customer Service; Cyber-Security; Educator Preparation Institute; Entrepreneurship; Information Technology; Pharmacy Technician; and Information Management. 

Financial Assistance

Broward College offers financial assistance through a variety of state and federal loans, grants, and scholarships.
