The Advertising Research Foundation (ARF) recently launched the ARF WIDE (Workforce Initiative for Diversity and Excellence) Scholarship. John Jay College was chosen as one of the partner universities to benefit from the scholarship. The ARF WIDE Scholarship was created to provide students from disadvantaged backgrounds with exposure to the fields served by ARF: advertising, marketing, media and market research, and data analytics. The recipient must be a junior with 60 or more earned credits; exceptions will be made for outstanding undergraduates who meet other criteria. This scholarship is open to all majors. Applicants must have interest in the fields of advertising, marketing, media, media research, market research, insights and/or data analytics. Applicants must also be from an underrepresented background including: low-income family; minority; from a poor, low-mobility urban, suburban or rural area; first-generation to attend college; qualifies for financial aid through programs like Pell Grants; and recent transfer to 4-year institution from a community college. Priority will be given to students whose continuation in school has been threatened by COVID-19 and its impact on their family or community.
