Description

The Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference is an engaging, in-depth, five-day summer program for high school juniors (one from each state and the District of Columbia) who "dream, dare and do." Applicants must be a current high school junior (rising senior) who will graduate in 2026. Applicants must also be interested in journalism and free expression. Applicants must be a free spirit (which can mean someone who is creative, or courageous, or risk-taking or persevering or thinks differently or displays some other quality that could be associated with being a free spirit). Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation, three journalistic samples of work, and two essays. Please visit the scholarship's website for more information.
