The AMS Doctoral Research Award provides funding to doctoral students to help support dissertation writing leading to dissertation completion in the humanities or social sciences, writing on a history of medicine/health care topic ÔÇô broadly defined as the study of past practices and epistemologies related to human health, healthcare, and disease. Applicants must have completed all requirements for the PhD except the dissertation. Students with permanent resident with ABD (All But Dissertation) status by the December of the application year are eligible, with preference given to those individuals in the final stages of completion (within 2 years of graduation). Applicants who have received a Doctoral Research Award in the past are not eligible to apply for this award. Successful applicants should also be supervised by an individual who has an academic appointment with a university-based graduate program in Canada and who conducts research in health services and/or technology in Canada. The applicant's and their supervisor's CV; three reference letters and up to three additional pages containing information related to the projects are required.
