The Archaeology of Portugal Fellowship

Description

The Archaeology of Portugal Fellowship can be used to support research and study related to the archaeology of Portugal, including the Autonomous Regions of the Azores and Madeira. This includes, but is not limited to, excavations, research projects, colloquia, symposia, publications, and travel for research or to academic meetings for the purpose of presenting papers on the archaeology of Portugal. The fellowship can also be used by Portuguese nationals (archaeologists and archaeology graduate students) to support research and study in the US. Individuals applying for this type of support are not limited to the study of Portuguese archaeology and funds can be used to research and study any archaeological region and topic. Applicants from Portugal who already hold PhD's must be AIA members at the Professional level. Portuguese graduate students must become AIA student members in order to apply for the fellowship. Portuguese graduate students wishing to study in the United States must be enrolled in or have been accepted to an accredited US university or college, and must provide evidence that they have been authorized to travel to and study in the US. If the applicant is currently studying at a US institution, transcripts are required. Portuguese nationals seeking funds for research or study in the US must provide a detailed plan of their project that includes the institutions and organizations with which they will be affiliated while in the US. All Portuguese applicants must provide proof of Portuguese citizenship. Applicants from the U.S. or countries other than Portugal must be AIA members at the graduate or professional level, and must send in their US transcripts. The applicant should submit two references, including their affiliated institution, address, and email address. Please visit the fellowship's website or contact the Archaeological Institute of America for more information about the program and the required materials.
