The CFUW 1989 Ecole Polytechnique Commemorative Awards commemorate the 14 women students murdered at the Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal in 1989. This award will be given to women in any field, studying in Canada or abroad. One award of $5000 will be given for masters study, and one award of $7000 will be given for doctoral studies. The applicant must justify the relevance of her work to women. Applicants must be enrolled or have been accepted in an approved graduate research program. Applicants are required to have two referees complete the Referee Assessment forms. At least one of these assessments must be completed by an academic reference. The second assessment can be either from an academic reference or from a person familiar with the applicant's personal history. An official letter of acceptance from the institution in the proposed study is necessary if the applicant is not enrolled at the time of application.
