Distinguished Scholar in Humanities and Social Sciences at the American Studies Center, University of Warsaw

Description

The Distinguished Scholar in Humanities and Social Sciences will teach one graduate course per semester on a topic of their choosing at the American Studies Center, University of Warsaw. The course, a research proseminar, will consist of 135-minute sessions, once a week, for 15 weeks. The Distinguished Scholar will also be expected to give public lectures, advise graduate students, and generally engage in the academic life of the ASC. The candidate's area of interest must be in American Studies with related disciplines (sociology, economics, politics, history, culture, art history, and literature), and interdisciplinarity; also Western Hemispheric studies. A letter of invitation should not be sought. The Distinguished Scholar can be awarded only to preeminent American Studies scholars with an outstanding publication record in their fields. Candidates are expected to have extensive teaching experience. It is expected that candidates will hold a PhD. in the humanities or social sciences and have at least 10 years of teaching experience.
