Fulbright-Glasgow School of Art Distinguished Scholar Award

Description

The Fulbright Scotland Visiting Professorship at The Glasgow School of Art contributes to the intellectual life of the GSA through seminars, masterclasses, public research lectures and curriculum development in any discipline within the institution for six months. The Fulbright-Glasgow School of Art Distinguished Scholar Award is a six month award where the scholar will participate in seminars, public lectures, research, and curriculum development. Research at Glasgow School of Art is interdisciplinary, spanning creative practice and theory. Applications are sought in all appropriate disciplines, but applications in the following disciplines are preferred: Architecture; Contemporary Art; Creative Economy; Curation and Exhibition Studies; Design Heritage and Theoretical Studies; Environmental Sciences; Sociology; Design-led Innovation; Social Design/Design for Society; Urban Planning; Visual Culture; and/or Digital Visualisation. The award is open to Artists, Mid-Career Academics, Senior Academics, and Community College Faculty. PhD (or other terminal degree) is not required. Candidates should have strong reasons for wishing to pursue the proposed project in the UK and a clear idea of what they wish to accomplish during their time as a Fulbright Scholar, not only academically, but also in terms of reaching out to the wider community and understanding their host country and culture. An invitation letter is preferred. While it is not a requirement to have an affiliation letter for this award, it is strongly recommended that applicants get in touch with their proposed host department and applications that include an affiliation letter will be much more competitive. All applicants must submit two recommendation letters. Letters should be from those who know the applicant and the applicant's work well. Please visit the award's website or contact the Council for International Exchange of Scholars for more information.
