Garden Club of America Montine M. Freeman Scholarship in Native Plant Studies

Description

The Garden Club of America Montine M. Freeman Scholarship in Native Plant Studies will be awarded to encourage the understanding, development, and use of underutilized native plants. This scholarship is open to college undergraduates or graduate students, advanced degree candidates, or non-degree seeking students above the high school level. Eligibility is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are currently and actively enrolled in a U.S.-based institution. This scholarship funds study at an accredited college, university, or major botanic garden or arboretum. Research studies, or projects may include, but are not restricted to, plant propagation and the acquisition of skills for working with native plant collections, including techniques for incorporating them in managed landscapes. Applicants must provide two letters of recommendation. One should include comments on the applicant's academic progress and achievement, personal qualities, and eligibility for the program the applicant has selected. The other should include information on the program the applicant has selected and assurance that they have applied and can be accepted.
