John Lewis Good Trouble Scholarship

Description

When you see something that is not right, not just, not fair, you have a moral obligation to say something, to do something. Activist, Civil Rights icon, and Georgia U.S. Representative John Lewis was a man who fought for racial justice and equality wherever he could throughout his life. At a young age, Lewis was one of the original Freedom Riders, founded the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), and was the youngest person to speak at the March on Washington. John Lewis believed in the passion, persistence, and power of the people, particularly young citizens, to effect change from their kitchen tables and to never give up. The John Lewis Good Trouble Scholarship will be awarded to NSHSS high school members graduating in 2025, 2026, 2027, or 2028. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the National Society of High School Scholars for more information.
