Korean War Veteran's Children's Scholarship

Description

The Korean War Veteran's Children's Scholarship was created in 2012 by Mr. Chong Kim, who was a child in Korea during the Korean War and is thankful to have survived those difficult times. Mr. Kim migrated to America in 1972 and served in the U.S. Air Force and federal government for many years until he retired. He created this scholarship as a way to honor the men and women who serve our country by providing educational opportunities for their descendants. Applicants must be a direct descendant of a Korean War veteran or a direct descendant of a soldier who served in a foreign war and provide appropriate documentation. Preference will be given in the following order of priority: Applicants who are direct descendants of Korean War veterans who died in combat; applicants who are direct descendants of veterans who served during the Korean War; applicants who are direct descendants of veterans who either died or served in a foreign war; applicants who demonstrate community service; and recipients who were awarded in the immediate prior year. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Hawai'i Community Foundation for more information.
