The Myrna Crabtree National Graduate Fellowship was established through a generous bequest from Dr. Myrna P. Crabtree who taught classes in human development and held workshops to help teachers meet the needs of the local population. This fellowship is awarded to a graduate student for up to $1,500 of support for one year of AAFCS membership and participation in the AAFCS Annual Conference and for $350 toward an AAFCS Certification. The applicant must be a current AAFCS member at the time of submission. The applicant is planning to pursue or is currently pursuing a graduate degree in family and consumer sciences or related specialized programs. Preference will be given to the applicants who: will have completed (at the beginning of the academic year for which the fellowship would be granted) at least one year of professional family and consumer sciences experience, serving in a professional role or in positions such as a graduate/undergraduate assistant, trainee, or intern; are working on a research problem or can describe a potential research problem for his or her graduate work; and/or are interested in contributing to the Family and Consumer Sciences profession in the United States, their home country, or an international program. Applicants must submit references from individuals who can speak to their academic ability, leadership, and professional potential.
