NACADA New Advisor Annual Conference Scholarship

Description

The NACADA New Advisor Annual Conference Scholarships recognizes new advising professionals with at least one year but no more than three years of experience in academic advising (calculated from the time of submission). Advising must comprise at least 50 percent of their job duties. This scholarship provides those selected with an opportunity to experience NACADA's Annual Conference in order to enhance their future leadership potential in NACADA. The provision of this type of support upholds one of the primary goals of the association, which is to offer comprehensive professional development opportunities to advising professionals. Any individual currently employed by a regionally accredited postsecondary institution may be nominated. For those applicants outside the U.S., an additional explanation of accreditation may be necessary. If a position has 50 percent or more of direct advising to students, then it does count as a professional advising position. Applicants must ensure that their resume is clearly marked with the percentages specified for each of their job duties. The applicant's experience in advising cannot exceed a total of three years. Specific employment dates must be included on the resume. Individuals may nominate themselves. Applicants or nominees must submit two letters of support from their institution's officials, at least one of which must be from their supervisor in support of their attendance at the Annual Conference. The letters should address the items listed in the nominee's Annual Conference Participation Statement. A Current Resume or Curriculum Vitae is also required. Please limit entries to material that pertains directly to academic advising. Please visit the award's website for more information.
