The Outstanding New Advisor Awards are presented to individuals who have demonstrated qualities associated with outstanding academic advising of students and who have served as a professional advisor or a faculty member with advising duties for a period of three or fewer years calculated from the deadline for submission. There are two award categories: (1) Academic Advising - Primary Role and (2) Faculty Academic Advising. NACADA membership is not required but is highly encouraged. Previous Global Outstanding New Advisor Award winners or Certificate of Merit recipients are not eligible. Previous Regional-level outstanding award winners are eligible for Global Awards. Only one nominee per category per institution will be considered. Two separate PDF files must be submitted. PDF 1 must include a summary of the nominee's qualifications, the nominee's resume or curriculum vitae, the nominee's current job or position description with percentages of time spent on each duty or a list of job responsibilities with percentages of time spent in each area, and a personal statement of nominee's advising philosophy. PDF 2 must contain all appendices which support the nominator's recommendation including: Representative materials developed by the nominee; letters of support from advisees, colleagues, and administrators that specifically address the new advisor's outstanding qualities above and beyond normal job duties; and other pertinent information from nominator that exemplifies outstanding achievement in this category.
