Online Courses
Q: I am registered and logged into the course, but nothing happens when I click on "About My Course." What should I do?
A: This problem usually occurs when a pop-up blocker is enabled. To fix this you can add petersonstestprep.com to your "allowed" sites list (also known as whitelist or safe site list). By adding this site, your computer will allow pop ups from the online course. An alternative solution is to disable your pop up blocker. Many times a computer will have more than one pop up blocker, be sure that you have checked all of them. After doing so, please try the course again. If this does not fix the problem, please contact us by email at testprephelp@petersons.com or by phone at 877-TESTPREP, Option 1.

Q: The "Your Learning Plan," "Tests," "Resources," and "Downloads" links aren't working. What should I do?
A: The "Resources" and "Downloads" links will become active after you complete the first lesson, titled "About Your Course." You can access this first lesson by clicking the link at the top left of the course or the "What Do I Do Next?" link in the middle of the page. After completing the first lesson, you'll need to take your Diagnostic Test, and then your Customized Learning Path will be generated based on your performance. This will activate the "Your Learning Plan" and "Tests" links.

Q: Can I add lessons to my learning path?
A: Yes, but please consider it carefully before you do so. Q: How does the online course work? How is it personalized to every student?
A: Using an interactive platform, Peterson's online courses adapt to address the particular needs of every student. This is accomplished through the Diagnostic Test, the Customized Learning Path, and the three Full Length Practice Tests.
How? Each student completes a diagnostic test at the beginning of the course to pinpoint the student's current level on all of the various skills and subject areas of the test. Based on the student's performance and demonstrated strengths and weaknesses, a Customized Learning Path is created. The lessons are presented at varying levels of difficulty to ensure that each student receives the most targeted instruction.
The average learning path consists of about 60 lessons, each with a practice quiz covering the topics from that lesson. Each lesson can be completed in about 20 minutes.
At the end of the course, students can practice all their new skills and strategies with three timed, full-length practice tests that mimic the format of the real test.

Q: How many times can I take the practice quiz at the end of each lesson?
A: You can take the practice quiz for a specific lesson in your learning path as many times as you like. The questions will not change, but you can compare your performance to the other times that you've taken that quiz.

Q: How many times can I take each full-length practice test?
A: Each full-length practice test may be taken once. Upon completion, you will receive your score and have the opportunity to review which questions you answered correctly and which you answered incorrectly. An explanation is provided for each incorrect answer to ensure that you understand why your response was wrong.

Q: What is the optional online tutoring, and how does it work?
A: The online tutoring feature is an interactive chat utility that allows you to ask questions to a live tutor. When you click on "Online Tutor," an easy-to-use interface will appear for you to type in your question. Please include as much detail as possible about the course subject or practice question you are working on so that the tutor may assist you.
When you enter your question, you may be put into a queue and receive a message like "You are second in line for your question to be answered." This means that the tutor is answering another student's question, and he or she will answer your question in the order it was received. If you do not see a message informing you of your place in line, then you are first in the queue and should receive an answer without delay.

Q: Will the score I receive on a Peterson's full-length practice test reveal how well I will do on the real test?
A: The scores you receive on our practice tests describe your performance on the practice test content only. While they are modeled after the actual exam format, the practice tests cannot predict performance on the actual exam.
