February marks Black History Month, a time to celebrate and recognize the history, heritage, and contributions made by African Americans. President Gerald Ford praised Black History Month, urging all Americans to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.”

In recognition of Black History Month, we’ve compiled a list of 11 scholarships designed for African American students to help fund their education.

  1. TE Connectivity African Heritage Scholarship
    This 2-year scholarship program assists college students majoring in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), Operations Management, Finance, Supply Chain, or Information Technology. Those eligible must be African American, full-time students attending a university or a four-year college.
    Amount awarded: $22,500
  2. Architects Foundation Diversity Advancement Scholarship
    This scholarship helps more minority students pursue a successful career in architecture. Eligible students must be a U.S. citizen, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be: a high school student planning to enroll in a NAAB-accredited architecture degree program; a rising second-year college student in a NAAB-accredited architecture degree program; or a technical school or community college student who has completed high school or its equivalent and intends to transfer to a NAAB-accredited architecture program.
    Amount awarded: $20,000
  3. American Chemical Society Scholars Program
    This renewable scholarship is available to underrepresented minority students (African-American/Black, Hispanic/Latino or American Indian) majoring in a chemistry-related discipline who are also intending to pursue a career in chemistry-related fields. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
    Amount awarded: $1,000
  4. Knoll Diversity Advancement Design Scholarships for Black Students
    This program’s goal is to develop the next generation of architects, graphic designers, industrial and architectural engineers, interior designers and industrial designers. Up to five renewable scholarships of $10,000 each will be awarded to Black high school seniors in the U.S. and Canada who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year, four-year college or university, or CEGEP institution for the entire upcoming academic year, and plan to study eligible majors.
    Amount awarded: $10,000
  5. UNCF-Anthem Corporate Scholars Program
    This scholars program, a nationwide workforce initiative that creates career opportunities for minority students, provides internship opportunities for qualified students based on specific eligibility requirements, area of study, and GPA. Eligible candidates must be studying Accounting, Business/Consumer Services, Communications, Computer Science/Data Processing, Economics, Finance, or Health Administration.
    Amount awarded: $5,000
  6. American Meteorological Society Minority Scholarships
    These scholarships will award funding to minority students who have been traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, especially Hispanic, Native American, and Black/African American students. AMS is committed to advancing core values of diversity, inclusion, and equity across all aspects of the atmospheric, oceanic, and hydrologic sciences.
    Amount awarded: $6,000
  7. UPS Scholarship for Minority Students
    The UPS scholarship is available to undergraduate Black, Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander or American Indian/Alaska Native students enrolled in any school in the U.S. and its territories, Canada, and Mexico, provided: the school’s industrial engineering program or equivalent is accredited by an agency or organization recognized by IISE; and the student is pursuing a course of study in industrial engineering.
    Amount awarded: $4,000
  8. AICPA Scholarship Award for Minority Accounting Students
    This award provides financial assistance to outstanding minority students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate-level degree in an accounting or accounting-related major. Applicants must be a full-time accounting student attending an accredited university or a four-year college with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
    Amount awarded: $3,000
  9. AIET Minorities and Women Educational Scholarship
    This scholarship will be awarded to minorities and women undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate students pursuing academic degrees in real estate appraisal or related fields.
    Amount awarded: $1,000
  10. Minority Scholarship Awards for Incoming College Freshmen
    Applicants are required to be high school graduates during the current academic year and be members of a minority group that is underrepresented in chemical engineering.
    Amount awarded: $1,000
  11. National Black MBA Association Undergraduate Scholarship Program
    The National Black MBA Association is dedicated to helping its members pursue education at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In service of that mission, they have partnered with top colleges and universities around the country to provide increased opportunities in the form of knowledge, resources, and scholarships. Candidates must be Black students attending a university or a four-year college.
