As a Research I university, the University of Arkansas has been recognized by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education as a doctoral university with the highest level of research activity. Numerous programs, both on campus and online, are nationally ranked. The Graduate School at the University of Arkansas has a reputation for producing influential leaders and intellectuals, and is a place where aspirations become reality. Currently, over 250 doctoral fellows are enrolled, as well as 13 NSF Graduate Research fellows, 50 Benjamin Franklin Lever fellows, and 50 Fulbright scholars. Over 4,000 graduate students are currently enrolled, with a nearly 50:50 ratio of male to female students. A Place Where Support is Available

Graduate education is a significant investment of time, energy and money. Therefore, the Graduate School is proud to offer a variety of financial and community resources to help ease students’ burdens. Each year, students receive NASA, NSF, Fulbright, and other prestigious national awards. Additional sources of funding are also available to further students’ educational journeys: over 1,500 students serve in graduate assistant roles, while over 500 more impact other student lives as teaching assistants.

Northwest Arkansas, linked by the 36-mile Razorback Regional Greenway trail, offers a multitude of recreational activities and cultural events from kayaking on the Buffalo River and hiking the trails of Devil’s Den State Park, to seeing Broadway shows at the Walton Arts Center on Dickson Street or viewing art installations at the award-winning Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville.

The GSC serves as an institutional voice that advocates for the interests of graduate students, and all students are encouraged to actively participate in congressional meetings to effect change on campus.

Once students have completed their journey at the University of Arkansas, their professional futures are bright. Placement rates for master’s graduates are nearly 90%, while doctoral graduates enjoy a 92% placement rate.
