About Amridge University

Founded in 1967, Amridge University has been a long time leader in online education. Distance learning is the primary instructional delivery system for all our programs and with that in mind we focus on supporting you from your first point of inquiry all the way through your academic degree program. Our goal is to help you obtain your degree through a variety of Student Support Services and rigorous Academic Support.

Amridge University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC),, to award bachelors, masters and doctoral degree programs in Business, Counseling, Biblical Studies and many more. Amridge is one of the most affordable private universities in the United States. We offer excellent scholarships and incentive discounts for Military Students, First Time Freshmen, Sister Institution Staff, Ministers and Corporate Alliances.

With over 50 years in Higher Education, Amridge University has taught in the online education arena since 1993. Through the vision of the leadership of the institution, Amridge was chosen as one of the first 15 participants in the nation selected by the U.S. Department of Education to pilot Distance Education on a broad level - resulting in a change to the federal law to allow more students to access distance education.

Amridge University is located in Montgomery, Alabama, the capital city of the state. The University is strategically located in the central part of the state between Huntsville, and Mobile. The city is clean and modern, with beautiful residential areas, parks and playgrounds, and fine schools and universities. Students and families can also enjoy its museums, zoo, and facilities of the capitol building. Montgomery has two major U.S. Air Force installations: Maxwell Air Force Base and Gunter Annex. Maxwell is where the Air War College is located and is a strategic center for education. The metropolitan area has a population of more than 350,000 citizens. There are many churches and educational institutions. The city has an abundance of good housing in addition to other advantages. The Montgomery Regional Airport is located six short miles southwest of the capital city of Montgomery.

The Fall semester runs from September to December, during which a 10 week and 8 week selection of courses are offered, followed by the Spring semester which runs from January to April including a 10 week and 8 week selection of courses and the Summer semester which runs from April to August including a 10 week and 8 week selection of courses.

Academic Facilities

Distance learning is the primary instructional delivery system for all degree programs offered at Amridge and with that in mind the University focuses on supporting students in the online learning format. Amridge University sits stately on a 9-acre campus adjoining Interstate 85. A beautiful building houses the administration offices, classrooms, and Library Resource Center. Most students will not visit the campus, unless they are Doctoral students attending one week residency seminars or attending Graduation festivities. In order to server our distance learning students, Amridge utilizes an online learning portal to provide services to our student learners.

Canvas is the Learning Management System used by the institution. The Online learning portal is monitored locally by the Network Operations Center of Amridge University and is available 24/7 for student access. Amridge University uses RingCentral as a course conferencing system and delivery technology for live-stream classes. This includes live streamed seminars, live streamed weekly classes, and live classes recorded as archives for later viewing. With RingCentral, a webcam and a headset with microphone, students can see and hear their instructor, give class presentations, and engage in live discussions with classmates and instructors. Video collaboration also allows instructors to display documents, slides, or write on the "white board." Students can chat with classmates, raise their hand (virtually) to ask a question, and receive files from their instructor or classmates. RingCentral is accessible within each online course. Setup and configuration support is provided by Amridge University technical support.

Amridge is committed to providing students with learning tools that give them access to coursework and assignments from any location. As part of our commitment to embrace 21st century technology for education, the University has adopted the iPad as our new technological tool for teaching and learning. During the course registration process all students are given the opportunity to purchase a University-issued iPad to use as a resource for accessing courses when they are not seated in front of a desktop computer. Distance learners require a mobile and flexible style of learning and an iPad can be an excellent resource. It is with this idea that students who have this technology will have ease of access to all technology and services that can enhance student learning.

First-time full-time students receive a reduced rate of $250 per semester hour. These rates are guaranteed through the student's degree program, as long as students maintain continuous full-time enrollment and are in good academic standing.

Financial Aid

More than 95% of all Amridge students receive financial aid in the form of grants, such as the Federal Pell Grant; scholarships from Amridge and other sources. The amount of aid given is determined by the college's analysis of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All financial aid forms must be received by the Financial Aid department before a student can finalize enrollment.

Admission Requirements

Amridge University is open to all academically qualified persons. The University has developed a streamlined admissions process to help prospective students complete the process expeditiously so they can begin their studies. Students are strongly encouraged to work closely with University staff members to complete all steps to attain official (non-provisional) admission status for their respective degree program. Upon acceptance to the University, each student is assigned an Academic Advisor whose primary responsibility is to oversee the academic progress of each student and motivate them to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

All applicants must submit an online admission application through the MyAmridge portal which is accessible from the university homepage. The application fee for all students is $50.00.
