AIAA Foundation Graduate Awards

Description

Through its annual Graduate Awards Program, the AIAA Foundation presents awards to graduate students doing excellent research in the air and space sciences. Applicants may apply for up to three (3) scholarships graduate awards. On the application form, you will indicate your primary award preference, along with two (2) secondary awards for which you would like to be considered. Please note that applicants with no demonstrated academic interest in the subject area of the award will not be considered, so please carefully select the awards that most closely correspond to your area of academic interest. Must be a current AIAA Student member in good standing. Must have completed at least one (1) academic quarter or semester of full-time graduate-level college work and have a research topic approved. Applicants for the Orville and Wilbur Wright Graduate Award may be enrolled in any accredited college worldwide* Applicant's education plan shall be such as to continue graduate work in some field of science or engineering encompassed by the technical activities of AIAA. If applying for specific named scholarships, please visit the scholarship site for additional requirements. College/University Transcripts* (if youÔÇÖve attended more than one College/University, transcripts for all graduate level work from ALL schools must be provided), including all graduate work completed through the most recent Fall term. Transcripts should be uploaded as one .pdf document via your online application. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable, however, if you are offered a scholarship or graduate award you will be asked to send copies of your official transcripts* to AIAA for grade and GPA verification. Please do not submit undergraduate transcripts if applying for a graduate award. Assessment of award or scholarship-specific writing prompt if applying for a TC or Section-sponsored award. A research description must be 1-3 pages, double-spaced, descriptions over 3 pages will not be accepted, should clearly define any research hypotheses, approach, objectives and benefits of research, the applicant should be able to succinctly describe their research and research objectives. Two (2) professional letters of recommendation: one (1) letter from an academic reference and one (1) letter from a career reference, submitted via the online application system only. Letters of recommendations may not be submitted by relatives. Extracurricular activities, including high school, college and community activities, offices, awards, and work experience will receive due consideration.
