A practical film school - MFA and BFA

Eicar, The International School of Film and Television is a practical film school offering three main programs of film study: the Master of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts and One Year Fundamentals Year. - The two year MFA focuses on training students in polyvalent filmmaking with an eventual emphasis in second year in one of five subjects: cinematography, directing, production management, editing, or screenwriting. - The Bachelor of Fine Arts is a three year program also stressing polyvalent training but and allowing students to specialize in the latter years. The first year is mainly focused on documentary filmmaking. - The one year is a fundamentals year designed students to give the basics by following the first year BFA core courses with a certain amount of flexibility in their choice of workshops.

Every year, Eicar offers over 35 workshops to augment the degree programs course load in specific areas. All classes are in the English language and taught in the cinema culture capital of the world: Paris, France. The school is situated within the famous Paris film and TV studios to the north of the city. The faculty are working professionals in the industry and herald from around the world. Master classes and speakers have include the actress Charlotte Rampling, Gloria Katz (Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom), and the pioneering documentary director Richard Leacock to name a few.

The five disciplines of film

The school is dedicated to training in the five disciplines of film: directing, screenwriting, production, editing, and cinematography in order to give students the skills they will need to be competitive in a very challenging industry.


Alumni have directed three theatrically released feature films alone in France in 2015/ 2016 including the box office success of FIVE by Igor Gotesman.An Eicar alumni Adriano Valerio has also won the special mention prize in the Cannes Film Festival in 2015. Being at a crossroads between France and the rest of the world also gives students an international perspective and network which will also help their prospects as film professionals. The international department welcomes students from all over the world.
