The Art Institute of Michigan

The Art Institute of Michigan is one of The Art Institutes, a system of over fifty schools throughout North America dedicated to providing hands-on education in the creative and applied arts. The Art Institute of Michigan offer bachelor's and associate's degree programs as well as non-degree programs for students interested in pursuing career opportunities from among tomorrow's 15 million jobs in creative fields like design, fashion, media arts and culinary (based on information from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for job growth from 2012 to 2022).

A focused education from The Art Institute of Michigan can help students turn their creative energy into a powerful tool that can make a difference in the world. Students are part of a collaborative and supportive community, where experienced instructors provide the guidance and skills needed to pursue a career in the creative economy.

The Art Institute of Michigan is also an important resource for creative industry leaders who value the opportunity provided students to learn by using professional-grade technology to build a portfolio of work to show potential employers after graduation.

Accreditation and Licensing

Novi is one of Michigan's fastest-growing cities. The area offers plenty of opportunities for recreation with its lakes and rolling hills, shopping at its malls, and entertainment at its many nightspots. Novi also has a quaint, walkable downtown area. Novi is just 25 miles from Detroit, offering students at The Art Institute of Michigan the best of both worlds--small-city convenience and big-city excitement.

Detroit brings to mind cars and music. The center of America's auto industry for a century, the city has seen its share of economic ups and downs, but it continues to reinvent itself and reinvigorate its manufacturing base. A number of local companies are working on emerging technologies, such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, information technology, and hydrogen fuel cell development.

For all its industry, Detroit is a very cosmopolitan city. Many of the area's prominent museums are located in the thriving, historic cultural district. Cultural highlights include the Motown Museum, the Tuskegee Airmen National Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, the Contemporary Art Institute, and the Belle Isle Conservatory.

Live music has been a big part of Detroit's nightlife since the late 1940s, and the area has many nationally prominent music venues. Important music events include the Detroit Jazz Festival, the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, the Motor City Music Conference, the Urban Organic Festival, the Concert of Colors, and the hip-hop Summer Jamz festival.

Detroit has a proud heritage of professional sports--it's one of the few cities that offers all four major pro sports. Baseball's Tigers play at Comerica Park; the Pistons play basketball in suburban Auburn Hills at The Palace of Auburn Hills; the Lions play football at Ford Field; and the Red Wings play hockey at Joe Louis Arena.
