Introduction | Chapman University

Established in 1861, Chapman University is a private, coeducational university located in Orange, California and Irvine, California, in the western region of the United States. 

A leader in preparing students for careers in business, law, and health sciences, Chapman University has a diverse range of programs from, science and technology, business, education, humanities and health sciences. Chapman University consists of 11 colleges that provide career-oriented programs and experiential learning.

Chapman University has 40 graduate and professional degree programs in 11 colleges/schools and awards master’s, doctoral, and specialist degrees. Currently, there are 2,345 graduate students enrolled at Chapman University. With over 50,000 alumni around the world, students will connect to a global network dedicated to helping graduates persevere in their career aspirations. 

The 2020 US News & World Report ranks Chapman University as “one of the best colleges in America” and in 2019, Chapman University was ranked 5th among master’s-level universities in the Western US.

The Leatherby Libraries offer a full range of services and resources to students and faculty of Chapman including a 60-station computer lab, 15 group study rooms, multi-media preview rooms, more than 600 seats, capacity for over 300,000 books and bound volumes as well as access to a multitude of online resources.

The Rinker Campus Library Services provide print and electronic collections with an emphasis on health sciences. Collaborative study rooms and individual study spaces are available to facilitate coursework, studying, and research.

The High & Hazel Darling Law Library offers a rich collection of resources and a highly-trained staff to meet the legal research needs of the Chapman Community, especially students studying the field of law. 

The Princeton Review calls Chapman University an “extraordinary blend of liberal arts, science and professional programs.” Chapman is proud to have produced numerous Fulbright Scholars over the past three years. 

Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts ranks #7 on the Top American Film Schools, according to The Hollywood Reporter. 

US News and World Report ranks Chapman University as #125 (tied) in the National Universities group, a category that includes 399 of the leading private and public research universities across the United States.- 

Chapman University has over 175 student organizations and is home to 21 intercollegiate teams competing in the NCAA Division III. 

The Alumni Association consists of over 50,000 graduates (undergraduate and graduate) located around the globe. This sprawling network provides career support, events and opportunities to students and graduates of Chapman University. The Graduate Admission office supports students with navigating all the graduate programs and assists with application support. Information Sessions are an important asset to students; admission counselors will help students explore graduate school and possible areas of study.

Majors and Degrees | Chapman University Graduate Program

Chapman has 40 graduate and professional degree programs hosted amongst the following colleges: Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, Argyros School of Business and Economics, School of Communication, Attallah College of Education, Dodge College of Film and Media Studies, Crean College of Health and Behavioral Science, Fowler School of Law, College of Performing Arts, School of Pharmacy and Schmid College of Science and Technology. 

Programs include: accounting, behavioral and computational economics, business administration, creative writing, curriculum and instruction, documentary filmmaking, english, film and television producing, film studies, food science, health and strategic communication, international studies, law, leadership development, marriage and family therapy, pharmaceutical sciences, physicians assistant, real estate, special education, teaching, and war and society.

Admissions | Chapman University Graduate Program

Chapman University offers more than 40 graduate and credential programs. Chapman’s goal is helping students advance in their career aspirations while developing the skills to solve any challenge. Chapman University encourages hands-on learning for gaining experience and developing a skill-set. Class sizes for graduate programs are small, allowing students to engage and form bonds with fellow students and faculty.

Prospective students are encouraged to review the Graduate Application Deadlines based on their particular graduate program. Programs that accept applications after the deadline on a space-available basis will be noted. Please visit the Application page to view a particular program application and requirements. 

A non-refundable application fee of $60 will be required through the online application system. Students are required to submit official transcripts; applications will not be considered complete until all materials are received. Most programs require a minimum of two letters of recommendation. Some programs require a statement of intent with specific information included in your statement.
