Council on Social Work Education Minority Fellowship Program for Master's Students

Description

The Council on Social Work Education Minority Fellowship Program for Master's Students is a program designed to enhance the training of master's-level social work students in their final year of study at a CSWE-accredited institution who are passionate about meeting the mental health and/or substance use disorder needs of racial/ethnic minority communities. Applicants must identify mental health and/or substance use disorder service delivery to racial/ethnic minority populations as their focus and be committed to seeking employment in mental health and/or substance use disorder services or prevention with the target population immediately after graduation, for at least 2 years. The purpose of this program is to reduce health disparities and improve mental health-care outcomes for racially and ethnically diverse populations by increasing the number of culturally competent master's-level behavioral health professionals available to serve racial/ethnic minority populations. Applicants must be a final-year MSW student, either an advanced standing student or a student in their final year of an MSW program, with a graduation date between March 2026 and December 2026. Their career goal must be to lead practice, research, teaching, and/or policy in government or private organizations serving underrepresented and underserved persons with or at risk for mental health and/or substance abuse disorders. Applicants must submit two recommendations. Recommenders should be able to assess the applicant's capacity for successful completion of doctoral studies. Please select individuals who can best discuss the applicant's academic, clinical, and community work. A current CSWE MFP fellow will not be considered as a reference for an applicant unless the person has served as a supervisor for the applicant. Recommendations from CSWE MFP alumni are welcomed. Please visit the fellowship's website for more information.
