The M.B.A. Program at The University of Findlay

The University of Findlay offers a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree program that can be completed in just one year of full-time study.

Its innovative curriculum provides business management fundamentals, real-world projects that apply to students' current positions, emphasis on global perspectives, and attention to current and emerging business issues. As a result, students gain the operations management and critical thinking skills needed to acquire leadership positions in a global business environment.

The College of Business

Experiential learning, personalized student attention, and high academic standards are hallmarks of business education in the College of Business.

The college has accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs. Therefore, its curricula equip students with the managerial skills and professional competencies that lead to career success.

In fact, more than 80% of recent graduates from the undergraduate program obtained positions within three months of graduating, and over 95% of them were hired in their fields of study.

M.B.A. Curriculum

The 33 semester-hour M.B.A. degree program includes a core curriculum that covers business and management functions and explores how these functions relate to the external environment. It also emphasizes managerial skills, use of analytical tools in decision making, and application of classroom learning to various settings.

Concentrations are offered in organizational leadership (general M.B.A.), certified management accountant, certified public accountant (CPA), CPA qualified, health care management, and hospitality management.

Students can also take two additional classes to obtain specialized concentrations in finance, human resource management, international business, marketing, or operations management.

M.B.A. Courses

The M.B.A. degree program includes 11 courses: "Leadership and Organizational Behavior," "Management of Human Resources," "Marketing Management and Planning,""Research for Decision Making," "Ethics and Legal Environment," "Finance Management," "Management of Information and Technology," "Accounting for Managers," "Financial Reporting and Analysis," "Operations Management," and "Systems Analysis Business Strategy and Implementation."

Online M.B.A. Program at the University of Findlay

The online M.B.A. degree program offers increased flexibility and convenience, thus making it ideal for working professionals.

The program provides the same supportive learning environment, rigorous and innovative curriculum, and expert faculty members as the on-campus program.

Financial Aid at the University of Findlay

M.B.A. degree program students may qualify for federal loans; scholarships; and research, teaching, or graduate assistantships that include stipends and tuition remission.

In addition, the university offers a free textbook rental program and a Corporate Partnership program that defray program costs. The Corporate Partnership program provides tuition discounts for students employed at participating businesses.

Patricia Abels, D.B.A., CPA is an associate professor of business and chair of the M.B.A. Traditional Degree Completion program. She has published several articles in professional and business journals and presented her work at professional conferences throughout the world.

Co-curricular Activities

M.B.A. degree program students have access to opportunities that provide hands-on experience, improve their professional networks, and strengthen their resumes.

For example, students can network with alumni who connect them to internship, mentoring, and employment opportunities. Some students may choose to join the Society for Human Resource Management to acquire experiential knowledge and interact with experienced professionals.

Additionally, students may prepare for the Six Sigma Green Belt Certification (through the Special Topics in Business course). This preparation teaches them how to use statistical methods to solve business problems.

Career Services

Career services at The University of Findlay prepare M.B.A. degree program students for gainful employment and career advancement. Services include career planning, internship placement, cooperative education, and job placement.

Admissions Requirements

Admissions criteria for the M.B.A. degree program include a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, official transcripts, a minimum GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale), and completion of prerequisites.

Prerequisites consist of "Accounting: Principles of Accounting;" "Economics: Macroeconomics and Microeconomics;" and "Finance: Principles of Finance."
